Technique: Makume Gane slab earrings and pendant
Win: Yes
Challenge:
• To use the very last of my yellow, red, and green scraps to create a Makume Gane slab
• To create circular patterns for a bullseye effect, and linear cuts to create a spiderweb effect
Lessons Learned:
• This technique still has a personality of its own. I can guide it, but it always reveals unexpected patterns and colours, almost as if it decides for itself what it wants to become
• Makume Gane is becoming one of my favourite processes at the moment, and I definitely don’t feel finished exploring it yet

Notes:
• I use the leftover clay scraps from previous cutter pieces, squishing and compressing them together repeatedly to form smaller and smaller slabs instead of wasting any clay
